The Nest is, essentially, a production company and label wrapped into one. Our sole principle is to provide a safe incubator where artists can try out new ideas, receive a considerably higher return than they'd be given at a major label and have their music treated as Art.
We can do the production or we can pull together the musicians or we can advise you with taking this project to the next level, but what's important is that at all levels, we share equitably.
Our focus is on interesting instrumental, intimate jazz and lo-fi songwriters. Eno, Herbie Hancock, Jerry Douglas and Damien Rice would've felt right at home here when they were starting out.
Why the name "A Nest of Eggs"? Hmm... Because young artists need hatching, too? Because we help with "incubation" of music projects? Because we take good care of our flock? Just pick the one that applies to you...
We've had a number of "been there/done that's". Had a #1 record, blew a bunch of money fighting over label insults, recorded performances out of the back of a station wagon. We're not surprised by much but thrilled with Artists who still believe in their art and willing to take an occasional chance.
